Went to Shawlands Shimla Pinks last night for the first and last time. I have never seen such small portions for so much money. Usually we come out of a restaurant feeling like we have eaten something - we came out of Shimla Pinks wondering what was for dinner!!

We did mention our concerns to the manager but he said that in times of a credit crunch they had made the portions smaller because customers had complained about the amount of food that was being wasted because they couldn't eat everything on the plate - as if!!!! And as far as the rice being served in a sugar bowl he said "do you know how much rice has gone up in price".

No wonder the restaurant was almost empty at 8.30 on a Saturday night - but the manager said that they do not need loads of customers to make money - I wonder what his sideline is!! Not food to be sure!!!

I was in Shimla Pinks in Hamilton on Saturday night and I would thoroughly recommend it, it is very classy inside and the food was excellent.

After reading these reviews its fair to say that the new owners of Shimla Pinks Pollokshaws Road have not lived up to the same standard as the original owner. I work in Hamilton and I would like to inform that the original owners are now opening Shimla Pinks in Hamilton, Campbell Street. I think it's opening sometime next week and would recommend you give it a try as it looks classy and chic from outside.

Everything about the place is wrong! the decor, the service and the food. We had been going to Shimlas for years and under the orginal ownership the place was the best in glasgow for a curry. Now it couldnt be more different and is run more like a cafe than a restaurant. Since its changed hands i have been twice once for a sit in meal and once for a carryout and both were terrible experiences. WE NOW TRAVEL ALL THE WAY TO JOHNSTONE, THE ORGINAL SHIMLA PINKS, FOR A MEAL WHERE THE FOOD, DECOR AND SERVICE CONTINUES TO BE EXCELLENT. I WOULD RECOMMEND OTHERS TO DO THE SAME!!!!!!

We had been there for a meal previously and vowed never to go back due to a meal that was so insipid that I thought it was chef's night off. However, the last takeaway meal we got from a neighbouring establishment was very disappointing so we thought we'd give it a try again... Starting my takeaway order with fish pakora, the waiter wrote it down then was informed from the chap doing the books at the adjacent table shouting over that they no longer did fish pakora - at this I should have left! The waiter then took my order and checked back that i wanted the chicken tikka as a starter - despite my pointing out the main course meal on the menu - no, I replied, it was a main meal...so when i got home I was surpised to see it was a starter portion despite being asked twice....My own South Indian garlic chilli lamb was a surprise...as it was not only chicken but in a very very bland tomato sauce - my compliments to the chef for opening that tin of sauce so expertly! The naan bread was good thoughWell I'm never going back, but by the state of the place on a Saturday night a lot of people have thought the same and with the look of a place on it's knees I guess it won't be long before it's 'improved' into an estate agents shopBest of luck in your next job lads...
