afraid to say that the takeaway service we received was extremely poor, we waited over an hour and a half, on 2 meals. it was mid week and we couldnt understand what took the delivery so long. when the meals arrived, the delivery man was unable to give us the correct change and it meant we received less change than we ought to have. dishonesty coupled with poor service. we are less than satisfied!

I have just been to the Amber for a meal with my family and Afraid to say it was a poor experience.

The food was, ok, but when you conceder the cost of the meals, it was very poor value for money. Having waited over 30 mins to get served, the meal came in bits at a time followed 10 mins later by the rice. We then order a coffee and deserts, again over 30 mins later I asked for the bill as we were fed up waiting, over 2 hrs for one course, I hate to think how long it would have taken if we had stayed for the coffee and sweets. All considered I would rate this very poor experience and not one I will recommend.
When I pointed this out to the staff, I was told they were busy….. I would suggest that with only just over half of the tables full and they can’t cope, this is not a good sign.

I hope they can fix it, this was once a really good place to eat.

My Mum and I recently had dinner in the Amber and it was very nice. The service was good and most importantly the food was good too!!!

I have been going to the Amber since 1972 and it serves by far the best chicken chow mein anywhere. I have often visited chinatown in San francisco and the Amber is still the best. Friendly staff too and the prices are reasonable.

Such a shame I last visited the Amber in 1985 while working in Govan at the dockyard with Bae we had so many great memories of a fine restuarant. As you can see that was many years ago I now work in a vastly different environment but with redundancy looming I was planning a revisit this year but now I am not so sure my memories may be marred.
