"Balbir's restaurants are definitely the best Indian restaurants I've been to in scotland. I tend to eat more in their Ayshire branch though I have twice been to the church street one. In both places I find the food to be extremely healthy compared to the other restaurants I've been to (minimal useage of oil, no artificial colours etc)

They also claim to be the only Indian restaurant in scotland to have an eat safe food certificate.

I'm a big fan, homestyle food like back in India, keeps me from feeling home sick!

Well done team Balbir's - keep it up!"

"I paid my 2nd visit to Balbir's on 6th August with my boyfriend. Unbeknownst to me, he intended to propose to me over the meal. He presented me with my beautiful engagement ring just as the starters arrived. Next thing, we were presented with a free bottle of champagne by the beaming staff!

The meal was amazing, the staff were superb and the overall experience was wonderful. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! "

"What a meal, was in on Wednesday 17th April, was there with a group of friends, had originally booked a table for 4 but we were 5 were informed by the manager that it was fine.

When ordering our meal a chap in glasses came over and offered us the banquet, 3 out of 5 choice to go for it and we never regretted it. What food even the other 2 regretted not going for it. 10/10 in all areas. Balbir should be proud of his team their. "

"The fact that Angela cant even spell her own name is a good indication of the intelligence of her food criticism.

Balbirs is a fantastic restaurant. Food is excellent, Waiters are exremely friendly and happy to talk about the food on their menu, and other dishes you may wish to request. The banquet was excellent and when asked about meats / fish / vegetables you like and the spiceyness of your food they will suggest dishes - which you dont have to accept. Best Indian in Glasgow."

"We went there last night. We chose from the menu rather than going for the banquet (though we'll try that next time). It was utterly wonderful. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was perfect. We tipped 20%. So happy. Well done Balbirs - i may well write you a letter to tell you how great you are!"

"My visit to Balbirs was so dissapointing. Everyone was raving about it and I went along with my girlfriend.

The place was far too hot, was never offered the banquet, the food was rushed. We had just finished our starter and less than two minutes later we were given our main course. No time to sit back and let our starters go down. We have never eaten a curry so fast in our lives. Place was nice and clean but would not go back will stick to the Ashoka thanks"

"I agree the last couple of remarks are outrageous.

What a restaurant, went to this place after hearing my work colleagues talk about it after a nite out at work. I was told to go for the banquet as I was with my family, the waiter I take was a manager or someone high there as he was dressed smartly with a waist-coat and appeared smart and we were asked a few question before we were served our food -OUTSTANDING.

Thanks to the waiters choice ... if you want to go for a place in west end pick this. Service Excellent, Staff and management outstanding service with a smile."

"I have to say the last to remarks must be outrageous.

I’ve been in with my several times with my family after reading the Tam Cowan review. The food has been outstanding the service has been superb and the staff and management have been brilliant.

Yes I have tried the banquet and all the dishes were up to scratch."

"Banquet service to suit your individual tastes??? I would say a set menu - all the waiter asked us was are we allergic to nuts and do we like our curries hot or mild and proceeded to give us the exact same dishes as the couple at the next table.

We had 3 starters (one I would say was an accompaniment rather than a starter) & 2 chicken curries and 2 lamb curries (small portions - don''t know what they were called as they were just set on table) between four of us and I must say I would not have chosen any of them. Not impressed one little bit. Maybe!! if we had chosen our dishes from the main menu I could have had a different story to tell."

"Balbirs has to have the worst banquet menu in the west of scotland. Tam cowan must have been plied with wine to write that review. I went on sat 12th aug and the waitress said she reccomended that we try the banquet (big mistake) i would rather have made my own wrong choice."

"Honestly folks, you won't find better Indian cuisine anywhere else in Glasgow. My wife and i took in Babirs on the way to the Eagles Concert. It made the perfect evening and the service was superb. The price compared to other Indian restaurants in fife was fantastic. We really could not complain."

"Balbirs is the best Indian restaurant I have ever been to, and I've been to many. The food is delicious and very healthy; the starters in particular are like nothing I've ever tried before.

They offer a banquet service for 'first timers' where you tell the waiter what you like and he picks a selection of dishes to suit your palate. It means you end up trying 3 starters, 2 curries and various sides between two people. I have an Indian friend who says Balbir's is exactly like the food her family make at home, unlike most of the other Indian restaurants around.

Definitely worth a visit but book early at weekends as it is always full."
