A powerful ‘mans’ movie documenting the symbolic coming together of Black and white South Africa. Freemans accent veers between south JoBurg and South Carolina at times but he takes on Mandela’s mantle perfectly. Damon plays Pienaar the captain of the SpingBoks, with all of the depth a role with only two dimensions requires.
The rugby scenes at the end are good if not predicable, the interaction of police men and little black boy whilst the game is in progress raises a why smile and is a cute and fitting ending.
